About Matt
As a substitute teacher, I frequently walk into a handful of assignments for the day, ranging from math worksheets to reading and writing. I'll get in about 7:40, then the class will arrive by 8:00. I take attendance while they do morning work, then we need to go over morning work. By then, I have to have figured out how to teach 30 students the next assignment. Those students will be at different skill levels; some students will get the work done in five minutes, others will even have the prerequisites. That means I've got to figure out what to do with the bored students and help the ones who need instruction in order to get instruction on how to do the work. All that takes a lot of tap-dancing, but it is rewarding. It is also excellent preparation for one-on-one tutoring. One-on-one we can adjust to your speed and give you exactly what you need. I've got a degree in math and master's in Computer Information Systems. My recent course assignments are Mobile programming in Java, introduction to Java, and a survey course to compare programming languages at SNHU. I do a lot of Python tutoring.

Students come to tutoring with a problem. A class they are struggling with, a project they are trying to complete. We start with the project or concept and break it down into component parts. For each component, I use the following rule of thumb: Tell me Show me Work with me Help me Watch me ----> That is, I explain and demonstrate, then we solve a problem together, then I help the student, then I observe the student solve it themselves. We work a few problems this way, then plan the next session. I can work with programming problems from high school to college senior. I enjoy building something meaningful, from web and mobile apps to blackjack simulators.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Matt was literally the only reason I was able to pass my math courses and graduate. He's incredibly patient, intelligent, and easy to understand. He will figure out how you think, then present the material in a way that is easy for you to understand.
