About Callan

As a Lead Engineer and former NHS Mental Health Practitioner with lived experience of ADHD and Dyslexia, I know that standard teaching often fails bright minds. I bridge the gap between technology and neurodiversity, offering specialist tuition that builds confidence, executive function, and technical skills simultaneously. My Professional Background - Engineering: I work as a Lead/Senior Engineer building secure cloud infrastructure and AI systems. I bring real-world industry experience (Python, React, Cloud) to every lesson, not just textbook theory. - Clinical: Previously, I spent four years in the NHS working in Inpatient, Crisis, Home Treatment, and Complex Trauma. I have extensive experience supporting people with complex needs in high-pressure environments. Who I Help - Neurodivergent Students: I support students with ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia to overcome the "Wall of Awful" and procrastination. - Psychology Undergraduates: I translate complex Python/R statistics into plain English for data analysis modules. Credentials - MSc Computer Science (In Progress - Distinction Track) - BSc Psychology (Goldsmiths, UoL) - Enhanced DBS Checked - 5-Star Rated & Repeat Client Track Record

PLEASE NOTE: The free first lesson is a 30-minute online consultation/assessment to discuss learning barriers and build a plan. My Approach: Bridging Tech & Neurodiversity I don't just teach code; I teach you how to think like an engineer. My sessions are designed for students who find classrooms overwhelming. I combine my Senior Engineering experience with NHS clinical strategies to create a calm, structured environment. Methodology & Techniques - For ADHD/Autism: We use "Body Doubling" and "Low-Demand" techniques to overcome anxiety. We break scary projects (like the NEA) into micro-tasks for instant dopamine hits. I model how to debug code visually, turning frustration into problem-solving. - For Psychology Students: I use my Psychology degree background to explain why the code matters for your research, making the abstract practical. - Real-World Coding: We use industry tools (VS Code, GitHub) to learn professional workflows from day one. Typical Lesson Structure (60 Mins) 0-5 mins: "Brain Check-in" – Assessing energy & setting one clear goal. 5-45 mins: "Deep Work" – Collaborative coding. I screen-share and "drive" while you navigate. We normalise mistakes as part of the process. 45-60 mins: "Consolidation" – Celebrating the win & setting a low-pressure plan. My Qualifications - Senior Full-Stack Engineer (MSc): Building secure software for critical infrastructure. - Former NHS Practitioner: 4 years clinical experience (CAMHS). - Top-Rated Tutor: 5-star reviews and 15+ hours specialist teaching.
