About John David
I’m a Senior Game Engineer with 20 years of industry experience and a former Head Lecturer for Game Development at MAGES Institute in Singapore. I’ve shipped titles such as Homeworld 3, Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Earthless, One Piece: Bounty Rush, and Pocket Pioneers, and I bring that real production experience directly into my teaching.
I’m calm, clear, and direct — I avoid sugarcoating things because students learn faster when they understand exactly what’s working and what needs improvement. My goal is always to be honest and supportive, giving you clarity without discouragement.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, a teen exploring programming, or someone preparing for a future career in games, I create a friendly, structured learning environment where you can grow at your own pace.
I want game development to feel understandable, achievable, and genuinely enjoyable for anyone curious about how games really work.

My approach is practical, structured, and beginner‑friendly. I break complex programming and game‑development concepts into simple steps, using hands‑on examples and real project work to build confidence quickly. A typical lesson starts with a short review, followed by guided practice, and ends with a small, achievable task that reinforces the day’s learning.
What sets me apart is my blend of industry and teaching experience: I’m a Senior Game Engineer with 20 years in the field, a former Head Lecturer for Game Development at MAGES Institute in Singapore, and I’ve shipped titles including Homeworld 3, Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Earthless, One Piece: Bounty Rush, and Pocket Pioneers. I know how to teach clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and connect real production techniques to what students are learning.
My lessons are suitable for beginners, hobbyists, teens, and aspiring professionals who want to learn C++, C#, Unity, Unreal Engine, gameplay systems, or general programming fundamentals. I tailor each session to the student’s goals—whether school support, portfolio building, or preparing for a future career in games.
