I am truly passionate about working with children, and my teaching methods are aimed to be fun, interactive, and to cater to the unique needs of whatever students I am working with. I am very familiar with the BC curriculum, from both volunteering in schools and being a student myself, and have worked in group and one-on-one settings across various subjects including (but not limited to) math, reading, writing, and social studies.
I am a fourth year education student at Simon Fraser University, preparing to apply to the PDP program and with the intention of becoming an elementary school teacher. I have taught many recreation programs including swim and skating lessons, and have volunteered on and off in various BC schools for roughly 7 years, with experience in grades K-8 and special education classrooms. I have also taught abroad in Fiji, working in a rural school in Suva for 2 weeks, and this was working with ages 5-15.
I am open to tutoring all grade levels, and have direct experience volunteering with children grades 2-5. I have taken both math and science course for future teachers at SFU (Math 190 and Sci 192) so I am quite familiar with the curriculum for these subjects. I have also done work in schools with reading and writing support.
Some of the high school courses I have experience with include (up to) English 12, Pre-Calculus 12, Chemistry 12, Physics 12, Biology 12 (not 11), Psychology 12, and Social Studies 11.
