About Penelope
I am a dedicated violin tutor with 8 years of teaching and professional music experience, passionate about helping students develop both technical mastery and artistic expression. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners learning foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.
One of the highlights of my career has been seeing students grow from hesitant beginners into confident performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and musicality. My teaching emphasizes building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also fostering creativity, musical interpretation, and expressive performance. I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to provide students with a complete understanding of music.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, creating a supportive, patient, and inspiring environment where students are encouraged to explore, express themselves, and reach their full potential. Teaching violin allows me to inspire confidence, discipline, and a lifelong passion for music.

I teach violin using a methodology focused on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to create musicians who are technically skilled, emotionally expressive, and confident. Lessons are tailored to the student’s abilities, goals, and learning style, blending structured technical exercises, improvisation, creative projects, and performance preparation.
Motivation drives every lesson. I guide students to set realistic short-term and long-term goals, monitor progress carefully, and celebrate achievements. This builds perseverance, self-confidence, and a lifelong love for music, encouraging students to approach challenges with curiosity and determination.
Communication ensures lessons are interactive, collaborative, and supportive. Students are encouraged to share questions, discuss difficulties, and explore musical ideas freely, fostering engagement, trust, and confidence in the learning process.
Creativity is a core element of my teaching. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to develop their artistic voice, connect emotionally to music, and express themselves freely. Integrity emphasizes disciplined, responsible practice, respect for learning, and consistency, cultivating habits that guarantee long-term growth and excellence.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and introductory piano, ensuring students receive a well-rounded and holistic musical education that nurtures both technical mastery and artistic expression.
