About Flora

I am a skilled violin tutor with 8 years of experience teaching students of all levels. I have successfully guided around 150 students, helping them build strong technical skills and a genuine connection with music. My teaching philosophy is centered on positivity, patience, and problem-solving, ensuring every student learns in an encouraging and supportive environment. I celebrate small improvements and consistent effort, keeping lessons motivating even during challenging stages of learning. I never rush a student before they are ready, taking time to explain concepts clearly and allowing extra practice for areas like bow control or finger placement when needed. When students face specific difficulties, such as pitch instability or timing issues, I break these challenges into manageable steps and guide them through practical solutions until they feel confident. My lessons cover posture, bow hold, finger positioning, scales, and music theory basics, gradually progressing to more advanced techniques like intonation refinement and ear training. For performance-focused students, I also work on stage presence and expressive playing. My goal is to help every student grow into a confident, skilled violinist through steady, patient guidance.

My teaching approach for Violin, Music Theory, and Ear Training focuses on building strong technique through an encouraging and patient learning process. With eight years of experience guiding violin students, I have developed a methodology that keeps lessons positive, steady, and focused on real progress.

Positivity shapes how I approach every lesson. Learning violin can be demanding, especially with bowing technique and intonation, so I focus on celebrating small improvements and consistent effort, keeping the learning environment encouraging rather than stressful, even during difficult stages.

Patience is central to how I teach. Every student develops at their own pace, and I never rush a student before they are ready to move forward. I take time to explain concepts clearly and allow extra practice time for areas like bow control or finger placement when needed.

Problem-solving comes into play whenever a student faces specific challenges, such as pitch instability, timing issues, or difficulty with bowing technique. I break these challenges into smaller, manageable steps and work through practical solutions together until the student feels confident.

My lessons typically begin with posture, bow hold, and finger positioning, followed by scales and simple melodies to build muscle memory. I introduce music theory early, including rhythm and note reading, to support their overall musical development.

As students advance, I focus on refining intonation, tone quality, and more complex bowing techniques, along with ear training to strengthen their sense of pitch. For performance focused students, I also work on stage presence and expressive playing.

I adapt my teaching to match each student's personal goals, whether they are playing for enjoyment, preparing for exams, or working toward advanced musical skill. My overall aim is to create a positive, patient, and problem solving environment where every violin student can grow with steady confidence.
