About Colette

I am a violin tutor with over 6 years of experience and a DMA in Violin Performance. My teaching emphasizes a holistic approach, combining technical skill with emotional and personal development. I help students use music for self-expression, storytelling, and stress relief.

Improvisation, soundscape creation, and journaling are key components of my lessons. These practices encourage mindfulness and emotional exploration. I work with neurodiverse learners, trauma survivors, and adult students seeking healing through music.

Students learn to shape dynamics, tone, and phrasing to communicate their feelings. Lessons are a safe space for experimentation, reflection, and creative growth. I provide guidance that nurtures both skill and emotional awareness.

The violin becomes a companion for emotional release, mindfulness, and self-discovery. Music is experienced fully, not just performed. Together, we explore the violin as a tool for well-being, connection, and inner voice.

About the lesson

I provide warm, interactive violin lessons tailored for students preparing for orchestral performance. Lessons focus on ensemble blend, following a conductor, and managing group dynamics. Students gain practical skills for youth and community orchestra auditions.

We work on score reading, simulated ensemble exercises, and sectional practice to replicate real rehearsal settings. Orchestral etiquette, phrasing, and expressive playing are integrated into every session. Collaborative learning develops listening skills and adaptability.

Detailed feedback ensures measurable progress and confidence. Students practice leadership in sections and rehearsal strategies. Every lesson prepares musicians for polished, expressive, and cohesive ensemble playing.

My goal is to equip students with the skills and confidence to thrive in orchestras. Lessons are motivating, interactive, and focused on preparing you for the symphony stage.
