I'm taking different teaching styles depend on your goals.
What do you want to do by learning Japanese?
- Being a fluent Japanese speaker for interacting with Japanese people?
- Watching Japanese animation or drama without English subtitle?
- Reading Japanese manga or novel in Japanese?
- Getting educational Japanese language certification?
- Using Japanese in business situation?
I will take you to your own goal with the fastest way.
The first difficult point to learn Japanese for non-Japanese is remembering characters. Because we use 3 different types of characters mixing always. Especially about Kanji, the number is countless.
And the second challenging point is polite expression called 'Keigo". We use it when we talk with new people, older people, and on business.
But here's the shortest way to reach to your goal.
For example, if you just want to talk with Japanese people in Japanese or understanding animation without subtitle, I believe it's not necessary to remember any characters. I'll only teach you Japanese conversation.
If you are not planning to use Japanese on business so far, I think you don't need to learn 'Keigo'. You can learn it later if you'd like.
As an English learner for second language, I assume the best way to acquire a language is keeping motivation to learn and always sensing your development with a joy. Learning many things- Speaking, Writing, Listening, Reading at the same time is stressful for beginners. I know many people who had started learning language and have stopped finding it difficult to keep studying. As we have many another things we have to do or want to, we wouldn't be able to spend too much time only for learning Japanese.
Let's find the best method appropriate for your goal and enjoy learning Japanese!

Excellent! Shoko listened patiently to my speech and gave me some corrections and new vocabulary. We didn't have much opportunity for conversation in Japanese as I am only a beginner. I would like to have a lesson with her when she returns to the UK.
- This first-free lesson supposed to be the one to know each other for judgement whether we were right teacher and student. But I felt he just wanted to talk about Japan using little Japanese language with Japanese person at free. I couldn't feel he was seriously hoping to learn Japanese since he was avoiding from talking about lesson plan and goal setting. At the end, he said he found it better to have a lesson face- to face. But I know he never had an idea to learn with any charge.See the response Shoko :
And also he told me his Japanese skill was 'advanced beginner' on message before the lesson, but actually he was a BEGINNER who just knows some Japanese words. It was quit difficult to have a conversation in Japanese.
