About Javier
Native Spanish teacher in Berlin since two years at German Language School and Volkhochschule with a degree in Pedagogy and Postgraduate studies for teaching Spanish as a foreign Language at Instituto Cervantes Berlin. I am specialized in one to one, groups and webcam lessons. I speak native Spanish, fluent English and high Intermediate German and Italian. In my lessons I use mainly Spanish but in A1 I do translations as I know for experience that is difficult at the beginning.

For me, the students are the center of learning. My task as a teacher is to promote their autonomy so that they can achieve their own goals through individual strategies in a shared learning and feedback environment. In order to achieve this task, I work on my knowledge gained from a degree in pedagogy and extensive series of further training as a foreign language teacher at the Instituto Cervantes and my first professional experience as a teacher from A1 to C1 classes. I have taught at Volkhochschule, Akafremd, MEB Berlin and I am currently working at German Language School. As a teacher I control the dynamics of the class, but as part of the group I take an interest in my students by showing empathy for the reality of each participant in the group, as they have diverse backgrounds.Therefore, I believe that is important the teacher's attitude towards the group, personality, teaching style, experience as a teacher, resources and materials used in class, but also expectations of the students are very important. I personally think it is very important to listen to the students and to observe what happens in the class. This allows for improvisation and above all for authentic communication, which promotes trust between the students. At the same time, it allows me to adapt the activities to their interests and experiences so that they are motivated and I can set goals.
