About Yusra

I am third-year law students who has been teaching for three years. I have always loved teaching. A teacher should be a support system for the student and I aim to do that academically and in any other ways they need help

About the lesson

The main thing behind English is being able to write effectively and briefly, so much so that your point is being put across in a few sentences. This foundation is built up through a deep understanding of the author’s text. In my lessons, I explore the main themes and characters in depth as I find there has been a pattern of theme and character questions in past English lit exams. I also do a lot of exam practice to identify the student’s weaknesses and combat this to strengthen their writing. In English language, I find that once you follow a rigid structure in writing answers, examiners tend to like this, and especially if you try to take it that one step ahead; this is something I actively encourage students to undertake, to find new meanings and interpretations that wouldn’t be conventionally found. In my lessons, I find that practising is the key and is the best way to identify a student’s weakness and then work on that weakness.
