About Samik

I am not just an MCAT tutor-I will be your coach from now until you take your exam.
I scored a 525 with only 3 months of studying during a full course load, so I know firsthand what works and what is a waste of your time when it comes to acing the MCAT.
Through my five years of teaching experience (including university-level bio, biochem, physiology, and physics classes), I have both demonstrated and developed an impressive ability to break down confusing topics and problems in ways that make sense to students. Regarding the MCAT, I have used my expertise and strong teaching ability to help 10 students go from scoring around 505 on their first full length to over 515, with several even breaching the 520 mark.
I do this by being a personalized coach, not just a tutor who explains concepts. I will ask you to share detailed data about any full lengths and qbanks you have done so far. I analyze this free of charge and use it to craft a personalized study plan where I tell you exactly what you should be doing each day, when you should take practice exams, and how to make the material stick (study strategies). During most live sessions after this initial diagnostic and planning stage, I will go over content that corresponds to material that you have been struggling with on practice questions. In addition to verbal explanations, I use PowerPoints, notes, and flashcards-all based off the exact notes I used to get my 525. Many students found my resources far more useful than any long-form textbook (such as Kaplan). I make these sessions interactive, constantly quizzing you and providing you with a set of discretes to solve under my guidance to identify any gaps remaining in your knowledge. I will adjust my plan based on how you are progressing and am available via text or WhatsApp to answer questions (will respond within 24 hours). During the last several weeks before your exam, I will also do sessions where I purely go over your incorrects and work with you on how to make sure we are getting these types of questions correct, whether that is persisting content gaps, passage approach inefficiencies, or confusion about answer choices.
Packages include $75 for one one-hour lesson, or $360 for 5 sessions or $700 for 10.
I only charge for time during live Zoom tutoring-not for all of the planning, prepping, and personalization I do. This charge is a steal compared to most test prep companies who essentially provide you with mediocre/not representative qbanks, cookie-cutter large group courses, and all for 2-3 times the cost per hour of what I can provide. They also make you pay all at once, but I offer more flexible payment plans to be accommodating to students. I want to help prospective medical students ace the MCAT, so I go above and beyond for my students based on their individual goals and needs.

Will not charge for time outside of lessons, which I usually spend at least a 1:1 time prepping and personalizing relative to the amount of time I interact with.
This rate of $75-80/hour in packs of 5 or 10 lessons would be ~$200/250 hour for test prep company tutoring, such as Kaplan or Blueprint. My aim is to provide affordable options to students while also providing me with the funds to continue to invest my time into doing an outstanding job for my students.
