About Larry
I’m an 18-year-old tutor currently on a gap year before starting at the University of Bristol in 2026. Having recently gone through school myself and achieved strong A Level results, I understand exactly what it feels like to be preparing for exams — the challenges, the pressure, and the satisfaction of real progress. Because my own experience is so recent, I’m able to relate closely to students and tailor my approach to what they actually need, not just what the syllabus demands. I focus on clear explanations, exam-focused strategies, and building confidence through practice and encouragement. My goal is to help students feel capable, motivated, and well-prepared — whether that’s for entrance exams, GCSEs, or A Levels — while sharing the advice and techniques that helped me succeed.

Having recently completed my A Levels in English, Politics, and Economics at Latymer Upper School, I’m very familiar with the current exam formats, assessment objectives, and what examiners look for. My tutoring focuses on building both confidence and clarity — helping students not only understand their set texts and techniques, but also express their ideas with precision and originality. I aim to make lessons interactive and tailored to each student’s needs. Whether we’re working through close analysis of a passage, planning essays, or developing exam technique, I always ensure there’s a balance between practical skill-building and discussion-based learning, so students feel engaged rather than lectured. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, though I can adapt session length depending on the student’s focus and goals. I have experience supporting students preparing for 11+ and 13+ English entrance exams, GCSE English Language and Literature, and A Level English Literature, helping them strengthen analytical writing, essay structure, and confidence in unseen or timed tasks. My approach is friendly, supportive, and structured — I aim to make each lesson productive, enjoyable, and specifically tailored to how each student learns best.
