About Astrid
I have a bachelor degree in pure Mathematics and I am currently a Master student in Statistics and Actuarial science at the University of Western Ontario. Most of the courses I have taken have a passing grade of +90%. I love to teach, share my knowledge and help others to overcome their struggles and success. I have experience teaching kids as well as high school and college students. I have been a teaching assistant at UWO for a few periods. I can help you with homeworks and tutorials on Math, Calc, Linear Algebra, Stats, Probability, Financial mathematics, Actuarial sciences and any SOA exams as well. I also can help you with programming on the R software.

Math is all about problem-solving using strategies. Sometimes, there's only one way to solve a problem, but many times there are multiple avenues to the answer. In my tutoring sessions, we model several strategies for understanding and exploring a concept, through the basic definitions and illustrating several examples. I encourage students to apply high-level skills when given problems and focus on the thought process involved in the solution. Although math usually only has one right answer, being able to reason through the steps to find the answer is the most important part of being a successful math student.

Details
The rate for kids and high-school tutoring is $15/hr.
The starting rate for college tutoring is $20/hr*
*rates for First-year courses, they may increase depending on the complexity of the subject.
A transportation fee of $5 is applied when tutoring is outside Western University area.
