About Abel

As an Aerospace Engineering major with a Computer Science minor at the University of Maryland, I bring a strong academic foundation and a passion for helping others succeed. I’ve consistently maintained a 3.857 GPA and have been named to the Dean’s List four times. My studies have given me deep knowledge in Math, Physics, and Programming—especially Java—all of which I enjoy sharing with others through tutoring. Beyond academics, I serve as Secretary of the Ethiopian-Eritrean Student Association and am an active member of the National Society of Black Engineers. These roles have strengthened my communication, leadership, and time management skills—qualities that directly enhance my ability to teach effectively and connect with students. Whether I’m teaching Math, Physics, or Java, I focus on breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and encouraging active participation through questions and guided practice.

A typical lesson with me starts by reviewing key concepts and identifying any specific areas of confusion. Then, we work through carefully chosen examples together, gradually increasing difficulty to build confidence and mastery. I tailor my lessons based on the student's learning style and pace, often incorporating visuals, analogies, or hands-on coding (for Java) to reinforce understanding.

What sets me apart is my ability to adapt on the spot. I’m patient, intuitive, and skilled at explaining things in multiple ways until they click. I also aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions.

My lessons are ideal for high school and early college students who are studying subjects like Algebra, Calculus, introductory Physics, and beginner to intermediate Java programming. Whether someone is preparing for an exam or simply trying to keep up in class, I’m here to help them feel more confident and capable in these subjects.
