About Dora

Hi, I’m Dora! I’m a friendly and approachable tutor with a First-Class BSc in Psychology from the University of Liverpool and a Distinction MSc in Developmental Psychopathology from Durham University. I’m passionate about helping students build both confidence and subject knowledge, and I love seeing learners achieve things they didn’t think they could. My teaching style is patient, adaptable, and encouraging, with a focus on making learning engaging and accessible. Alongside my studies, I spent two years working as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a secondary school, where I supported students one-to-one and in class. This gave me strong insight into the school system, excellent knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum, and the ability to adapt lessons for different learning styles and needs, particularly for neurodivergent learners. I bring both academic expertise and hands-on experience to my tutoring, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new approaches, and making steady progress toward their goals.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Dora! I’m a Psychology graduate with a First-Class BSc from Liverpool and a Distinction MSc from Durham, with experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant for Key Stages 3 and 4. I tutor Psychology up to university level, as well as GCSE English, and general study skills. I specialise in adapting lessons for students with different learning needs, helping them achieve their potential. My approach is patient, flexible, and focused on building both skills and confidence. I believe every student learns differently, so my approach is flexible, supportive, and tailored to individual needs. I start by understanding the student’s goals and challenges, then break topics down into clear, manageable steps. I use questioning, examples, and practice tasks to help students build confidence as well as knowledge. My lessons usually last one hour, though I can adapt depending on what works best for the learner. Each session has clear goals, explanations that are easy to follow, and a short recap at the end so students know exactly what they’ve achieved. I tutor GCSE English, A-level and university Psychology, as well as study skills such as essay writing, exam preparation, and time management. My lessons are suitable for students from Key Stage 3 through to university, and I have particular experience in supporting neurodivergent learners. My goal is always to create a friendly, encouraging learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and able to achieve their full potential. My standard rate is £25 per hour, which applies to most lessons. For more advanced support (such as university-level Psychology), rates may vary slightly depending on the level of preparation required. I’m always happy to discuss individual needs to make sure lessons are accessible and fair.
