About Tertius
Hi! I’m Tertius, a qualified Bachelor of Education (Intermediate Phase) educator with classroom experience teaching learners from Grades 4–7.
I genuinely enjoy helping learners discover that the subjects they find difficult are often not as intimidating as they first seem. My goal as a tutor is not simply to help you get the right answer, but to help you understand how and why you got there, so that you can tackle the next question with confidence.
I have experience teaching Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Technology, Life Orientation, and Creative Arts, with a particular focus on Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Technology. I work with learners who need additional support, learners preparing for tests and exams, as well as those who simply want to push their marks a little higher.
I teach comfortably in both English and Afrikaans and bring a patient, positive, and approachable attitude to every lesson.
Most importantly, I want my students to leave a lesson thinking:
"I actually understand this now!"
That is always the win I'm looking for.

I believe learning should be more than sitting quietly, staring at a textbook, and hoping the information magically sticks. My lessons are interactive, conversational, practical, and built around the learner in front of me.
I am a qualified Bachelor of Education Intermediate Phase teacher with classroom experience teaching Grades 4–7. I use a lot of explanation, questioning, discussion, real-life examples, and guided practice to help learners understand why something works, not simply memorise the answer. I also like to keep lessons positive and relaxed, because learners learn much better when they feel comfortable asking, "Wait... how did you get that?" rather than being afraid of getting something wrong.
Every lesson is adapted to the learner. We will identify what they already understand, find the gaps, and work through those gaps step by step. Depending on the learner's needs, a lesson may include revision, new concepts, worked examples, practice activities, problem-solving, or preparation for upcoming tests and exams.
I teach in both English and Afrikaans and primarily work with Grades 4–7 learners, especially in Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Technology.
Whether your child is struggling to keep up, needs a confidence boost, wants to improve their marks, or simply wants someone to challenge them further, my goal is the same: make the work understandable, make the learner feel capable, and make progress that they can actually see.
