About Amanda

With fifteen years of experience working with children and youth aged 1.5-18, Amanda is a dedicated and versatile educator. Her extensive background includes nine years of classroom experience, particularly with grades 1-6, and she has a strong track record of working with students with exceptionalities. Known for her strong technology integration skills, Amanda excels in personalizing lessons to meet each student's unique skill levels and interests, ensuring an engaging and effective learning experience.

Currently, Amanda is pursuing a Professional Masters in Education: Classroom Specialist at Queens University, with expected completion in August 2024. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Education, a Post Graduate Certificate in Mathematics Education, and a Bachelor's of Education in Personalized Learning and Technology from the University of British Columbia, as well as a Bachelor's of Arts in Geography and General Studies from Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

In her current role at Langley School District, Amanda has developed and implemented innovative projects such as the grade-wide Who HQ project. She has consistently demonstrated strong collaboration and communication skills, both professionally and personally, through participation in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and school-based team meetings. As a tutor, Amanda brings this wealth of experience and a passion for personalized, student-centered education to support learners in reaching their full potential.

About the lesson

Problem and game based activities capture students attention and build thinking skills along with mathematical proficiency. Each activity is tailored to students unique skill set and interests. Utilizing research based best practices I am able to meet students where they are at and help them progress towards their goals.
