About Colton
Hello! I'm Mr. Griffith! I really LOVE learning, and helping others discover a love for it too. As much as I love learning, I also know that learning somethings can be harder than learning others. I had a hard time learning all sorts of important things when I was a kid. But because I never stopped loving learning, I worked hard to practice and exercise my learning skills. This forced me to discover ways to make learning work for me. Eventually, I earned my Bachelor's Degree of Education, and now I've been a teacher for 12 years. Smart is a skill with a path that is wide enough for all to reach. Let me show you the way.

Everything we learn in academics has a direct correlation to the real world around us. As learners, it is easy to get confused between learning the tool, or strategy, and learning the lesson. It is my goal as an educator to help students build the pathways to do the heavy lifting of critical thinking. One thing that sets me apart from other educators is my ability to include multiple perspectives within all content areas, creating a different dimension of learning and understanding as students engage with curricula.
My specialty is in lessons for elementary grades 3-5. A typical lesson with me will vary by subject and student needs, but will generally always begin with a check-in/relationship building.
After we have a chance to connect outside of the learning content, we begin with a task reflection. That might look like a reflection on a homework assignment, in-school assessment, a lesson from class, etc. We work backwards to find the root cause of growth prevention.
Once we diagnose a path forward, we practice the skill together while exploring the depth of knowledge required to master the skill.
Sessions will end with a short independent practice, and close out with a lesson wrap up.
Any and all lesson structures can be modified on an "as need basis" according to student needs.
