About Samir
After 2 years of volunteering for Community Service in young education, I am able to productively work with children and adolescents in a consoling and structured fashion, which tends to bear fruit in their academic performance.
Having recently achieved an A* in Economics and Geography A level, and an A in Maths A level at Winchester College, I am readily able to teach the work ethic and current strategies needed for learning these topics effectively. Using exemplar up-to-date notes, I shall teach to a high standard in order to help reach the top grades needed.
I am currently taking a gap year before an Economics degree at university, so I can whole-heartedly devote myself to tutoring and my timings are flexible in order to fit the needs of the tutee.

While teaching Economics, lessons will be split into roughly two sections. In the first half, teaching will be tailored to the tutees difficulties in the subject and covering them in detail using current notes and exemplar textbooks. This will usually include diagrammatic analysis of topics in order to help the tutee visualize each topic. Quick verbal tests about topics covered in a previous lesson will help to secure knowledge.
In the second half of the lesson, we will go through detailed chains of reasoning that display depth of knowledge, and award high marks when written succinctly in essays. This would be backed up with snippets of economic history in order to show applied knowledge. After having made a chain of analysis, however, we would evaluate the chain and use critical thinking to determine any situations where A does not lead to B. This will also be supported with notes and booklets.
The pace will be set by the student, as understanding the foundations of a topic cannot be rushed. Therefore, it is up to the student how much of each section takes up the lesson, but I would advise a 50/50 spread over one lesson, or one lesson covering gaps in knowledge and the next covering chains of reasoning.
Because of the time-pressured nature of most economics exams, I will teach a little about scanning an article and skim-reading paragraphs that may come up in an exam, in order to save time and ultimately give more time to writing higher level answers.
