About Rodrigo

My name is Rodrigo Bascunan. I was born in Viña del Mar, Chile. Since I was small, my life has been one of long journeys and new beginnings — growing up in the United States, returning to Chile, serving as an Army Officer, and later facing many hard lessons and difficult experiences while trying to build a life abroad.

I have learnt what it is to make mistakes, face hardship, lose everything and start all over again. I have learnt the value of patience, discipline and standing by my family.

More than twenty years ago I came to the United Kingdom, and this is where I have made my home ever since. Through all the ups and downs, the one thing that has stayed with me is a strong wish to help people and to do things the right way.

About the lesson

My approach is all about you — no one-size-fits-all

With over 20 years teaching across schools, colleges and all levels, I know every learner is different. I don’t just follow a fixed plan: I find out exactly what you want to achieve, how you learn best, and build every lesson around you.

I know first-hand what it is like to learn and use a new language as an immigrant — so I fully understand those early practical needs, worries and goals you might have. I am also a native speaker who has visited more than half of all Spanish-speaking countries, so I can teach you real, natural language used across different places, not just textbook examples.

Whether you want to speak confidently for daily life, work, travel or exams — I adjust the pace, topics and style completely to suit you. Having taught people from all backgrounds, ages and with different support needs, I make sure you progress well and feel comfortable every step of the way.
