About Trevor

I am a passionate violin tutor with 8 years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and learning levels. Over the years, I have successfully taught around 150 students, helping them develop strong fundamentals and confidence in their playing. My teaching philosophy is based on patience, clarity, and encouragement.

I tailor each lesson to match the student’s learning style and goals. I create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and improving at their own pace. My lessons emphasize posture, bow technique, finger positioning, intonation, rhythm control, and tone quality. I also include music theory, sight-reading, scales, and ear training to strengthen musical understanding.

For advanced students, I focus on expressive playing and performance preparation. A key strength of my teaching is consistency. I help students build regular practice routines and explain techniques in simple, practical ways. I believe steady effort leads to strong results. Along with violin instruction, I can support students with basic music theory and practice strategies. My aim is to help students enjoy learning while achieving long-term progress.

About the lesson

My violin teaching methodology focuses on balance between technique, creativity, and understanding. I guide students step by step, making sure they feel comfortable, confident, and motivated throughout their learning journey.

Creativity is encouraged from the beginning. I use simple melodies, rhythm exercises, and fun practice methods to make learning enjoyable. Students are encouraged to express emotions through music and develop their own musical voice. This approach helps them stay interested and connected to the instrument.

As a mentor and critical thinker, I teach students to think deeply about music. I explain the purpose behind scales, bowing patterns, and finger exercises. Students learn how to identify errors, fix them independently, and improve their sound quality through mindful practice.

Accountability is built into every lesson. I help students set realistic goals and follow structured practice routines. Progress is reviewed regularly, and students learn the importance of consistency and self-discipline. This builds long-term learning habits.

In addition to violin, I also teach supporting subjects like music theory, rhythm counting, ear training, posture awareness, and performance skills. My teaching approach aims to create skilled violinists who are confident, responsible, and passionate about music.
