About Jason

Since Middle School I have always been the “go to” person whether that be for essay review, to solve and break down a math problem, or to explain a biological concept-in other words-I am quite the generalist. Yet, what I am particularly fond of and passionate about, is history, current events, and writing in general. In High School I demonstrated success across these areas by successfully getting a 4 in AP World, a 5 in both US Gov and US History, and by earning a passing score in both AP English Language and AP English Literature. Beyond High School, I have thus far, been incredibly successful here at UCLA as I am(currently) on the Deans Honors List performing incredibly well in my GE’s and lower division Political Science courses. It is this success, and opportunities that it will certainly create, that I wish to replicate for my students whom ( I desire) will exceed far beyond what I have accomplished and far beyond their initial expectations. I recognize it is a struggle and I recognize the stigma associated with seeking help. Yet, the mere fact you're seeking help, is not a sign of being “dumb”, instead, it is a sign of intelligence, initiative, and perseverance that should be applauded. It is with this attitude, and with personalized instructional approaches, that I am eager and more then willing to serve you!

About the lesson

When I approach tutoring I do not do so by teaching my students what to think-instead-I teach them how to think. It is with this approach, in molding my students to become self-critical of their work, that I will be creating a student that will go on to not only seek help when needed, but also, to meet the task at hand when others are simply unwilling or unable to help. It is with this approach that I wish for all my students to leave each session being not dependent-but independent. To leave each session not in confusion or doubt but in decisiveness and conviction in themselves and their potential. It is this philosophy that will be the cornerstone of my services.

Details

$20/hr tier (after free 30 minute session) includes: A recorded meeting with transcript for easy and accessible review. An included digest (personalized) email with recommended extracurricular programs, college courses, academic websites/tools, internships, and job opportunities+priority scheduling. Qualifies for free 30 minute session after (3--$20 sessions) are undertaken. This will gradually build up to (6 sessions which equals a free 40 minute session and 9 sessions equals a free 1 hour session). If services are referred to at least 1 individual, who undertakes at least 1 $19/hr session, will be eligible for a $10 gift-card. The referred individual will be eligible for a free 45 minute session.

$19/hr tier(after free 30 minute session): A recorded meeting with transcript for easy and accessible review. An included digest (personalized) email with recommended extracurricular programs, college courses, academic websites/tools, internships, and job opportunities+ priority scheduling. If services are referred to at least 2 people, who all undertake at least 1 $17/hr session, will be eligible for a $10 gift-card.

$17/hr(after free 30 minute session): A recorded meeting with transcript for easy and accessible review. If services are referred to at least 3 people, who all undertake at least 1 $17/hr session, will be eligible for a $10 gift-card.

$15/hr(after free 30 minute session): Reserved for first 15 community members who sign up between April 3, 2021 to August 15, 2021. Includes a recorded meeting with transcript for easy and accessible review and if services are referred to at least 4 people, who all undertake at least 1 $15/hr session(during the above time-frame), will be eligible for a $5 gift-card.
