About Sarah
My name is Sarah and I am a student at the University of Louisville. I am a Chemistry major and hope to be a pharmacist in the future! Chemistry has been one of my favorite subjects since high school. It is a subject I am very comfortable with and enjoy learning/teaching. In high school I took 2 years of Chemistry, with one course being a CHEM 101/103 dual credit college course. I have completed 2 semesters of undergrad which include CHEM 201, 207/208 and CHEM 202, 209/210, receiving A's in all those classes. I am very personable and enjoy taking the time to explain the subject. I want to create a safe learning environment where students feel comfortable to talk to me about their courses. Chemistry is a subject that a lot of people struggle with, but in my opinion, it all comes down to the way the subject is taught. Many professors move too fast or do not take the time to explain the topics fully. I am here to instill confidence in your abilities and take whatever time you need. You will get through your classes and you got this!! :)))

As far as tutoring goes, I would follow the course that the student is taking. What I mean by that is I would help explain difficult concepts or topics that they are struggling with in their coursework. I would also give the student specific problems that follow their syllabus in order to ensure that they are grasping all concepts. A typical lesson plan could include reviewing the learned content, allowing the student to ask questions and practicing the newly learned content with specific problem sets. What sets me apart as a tutor is that I am student as well. As a student who is most likely not much older, I feel like I can relate to their issues and explain things in terms and use metaphors that they might understand. I have been through this process and taken the courses that I will be helping with, so I have first hand experience with the work. I have helped many of my friends with these concepts, so these explanations are not new to me. Lastly, the lessons are structured for high school students taking Chemistry courses or any course that is the equivalent to a CHEM 101 college class.
