About Asher
I am a Classics undergraduate and Choral Scholar at Worcester College, part of the University of Oxford. However, at heart, I am someone who never grew out of their Greek Mythology phase, and loves to share their love of the ancient world! I have the privilege of being able to constantly engage with Latin and Greek both through my studies and through singing, which is a rare thing in today’s world where learning through Classics is becoming ever rarer. Because of this, I am passionate about ensuring that benefits of these incredible languages are shared, and with them the skills they bring: lateral thinking, reading comprehension, and creativity amongst them.

I am a firm believer in using a reading-based approach, rather than solely focusing on grammar skills, to promote fluency and comprehension. So many schools teach these languages out of context, making them more inaccessible and less engaging. I also look to provide a strong basis in vocabulary and grammar to aid this. Lesson length: 45 minutes I teach GCSE Classical Greek and Latin students, or A Level Latin students. I am also open to taking complete beginners, or intermediate students looking to strengthen their language skills, of any age! I am very familiar with OCR especially - before university, I self-studied their Classical Greek GCSE, so I understand how to push language-learning and motivation beyond the barriers of a classroom. I have been tutoring ancient languages since 2023, and I also have experience running workshops in leadership, singing and crochet.
