I believe that persistence and methodical learning are the most key elements in learning, not genius or talent. Thus, my sessions consist of the following steps:
1. IDENTIFYING STRUGGLES: this allows us to isolate the problems and be most efficient in teaching, since we won't waste time on covering what is already known.
2. EXPLAINING: after identification, I will explain the correct approach to the problem, and why it works/why other approaches don't work.
3. DEMONSTRATIONS: I will then provide clear demonstrations that are easy to follow.
4. METHODICAL PRACTICE: this is where the learning happens - students will build the skills required to succeed through diverse, diligent, and targeted practice coupled with my guidance, helping solidify foundational knowledge.
5. EVALUATION: the student will be asked to attempt problems without my guidance, helping build confidence and independence in their performance.
6. CHALLENGES: towards the end of the session, I will illustrate some challenge problems with the goal of inspiring the student to keep learning and practicing to become more proficient in the subject.
