About Joe

I am a friendly, talkative person and I enjoy working with younger people. I am very passionate about maths and science, therefore any opportunity to pass on my knowledge I jump at. I am very much up to date with our current education system and in addition, what I feel it could be lacking in for some students as well. When I was in secondary school, I didn’t connect well with how some of my teachers taught each subject, often I found myself looking to online resources and my own methods to teach myself, what I felt my school couldn’t. I understand how a gap exists between classical education and students who struggle with this approach, it is not made for everyone. I hope to provide an experience I wish I had myself during my time at secondary school.

About the lesson

I have been a private tutor for 4 years now and received all grade 9s in maths and sciences. My approach is casual yet efficient and I'm happy to help with homework, go through practice papers and review any topics you may find hard to understand. I believe a tutor should not just be another school teacher, but instead a resource. I have no set curriculum, whatever you need me to help with, I'll cover. My lessons and teaching style will be centred around you, with a focus on the tricky areas you just can't wrap your head around. Whatever I teach will be based on your exam board's specifications, to ensure that what you've learnt in our lessons can be applied during your exams. If you are learning at a foundation or higher level I am more than capable of teaching at both. I am extremely flexible, if there is a certain learning style that you know works best for you, I can easily adapt. Lessons will be online for 1-2 hours. The only thing I ask is that I am given some notice on what you want to cover, just so I have some time to prepare resources that I think will be helpful.
