About Alex

I am academic staff at a leading UK university, with a PhD in Economics, Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and more than 15 years of university teaching and mentoring experience. Throughout my academic career, I have worked with students from diverse educational and international backgrounds, helping them develop the analytical skills, academic confidence, and intellectual independence needed to succeed at university.

My academic interests extend beyond traditional Economics to Political Economy and the relationship between economics, politics, institutions, public policy, business, and society. I particularly enjoy helping students understand how economic and political forces interact in the real world and how these perspectives can be used to analyse contemporary issues critically and convincingly.

Alongside Political Economy tuition, I provide personalised preparation for students applying to competitive Business Schools and related university programmes. I can support applicants in developing their academic profile, identifying and communicating their strengths, preparing compelling personal statements and applications, and approaching admissions interviews with confidence.

My approach is highly individualised. Rather than offering generic admissions advice, I work with each student to understand their academic background, experience, ambitions, and target programmes. Together, we focus on presenting an authentic and intellectually convincing application that clearly communicates why they are a strong candidate and why their chosen programme is the right next step.

Whether you want to deepen your understanding of Political Economy or strengthen your application to a Business School, my aim is to provide rigorous academic guidance in a supportive, engaging, and professional environment.

About the lesson

I offer personalised tuition in Political Economy alongside comprehensive Business School admission preparation for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants. Lessons are tailored to each student’s academic background, goals, and target universities. Support can include strengthening subject knowledge, developing analytical and critical-thinking skills, application strategy, personal statement guidance, interview preparation, and preparation for academically demanding business and economics programmes.

My approach combines rigorous academic teaching with practical, individualised guidance, helping students communicate their ideas confidently and present a strong application to competitive universities and business schools.
