About Samantha

My name is Samantha and I am a third year student at York University studying Chemistry. I have a passion for education and scientific discovery and want to help as many young, brilliant minds as I can with their own individual academic journeys. I believe that anything can be learned as long as there is a willingness to try and I am here to provide as much guidance as I can to help you reach your academic goals. I have three years of experience tutoring science and mathematics at the high school level and I use this experience to provide a positive and professional learning environment for you.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I believe in developing a deep level of understanding in important concepts in areas of chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Every student learns in a different way and I enjoy being able to discover unique learning methods and devising a teaching strategy that resonates with each individual student. I take difficult concepts and explain them in a simplified way to ensure the student understands the fundamentals. I believe repetition is an effective way to understand concepts and allows students to tackle homework and exam problems with ease. A typical lesson will begin by asking the student to explain the concept they are having difficulty with and what areas they are struggling in. Then a variety of practice questions will be tackled together, slowly giving the student more and more independence when handling the question until they are able to complete the problems without assistance. I finish the lesson with a summary, asking the student to explain what they learned.
