About Carolyn

I am a French Studies graduate and have 4 years of experience tutoring and teaching French as a second language. I learned French as a second language at the York Region District School Board in core French and then I continued to university-level French courses. I learned French as a second language myself so I can give you tips to do the same! I have been working in bilingual professional environments for over 3 years such as the government and higher education.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently so I adapt to my student first. If you share some of your interests with me, I will probably incorporate that into my lessons! I try to keep lessons engaging and mix in technology with my iPad for interactions. In my classes, I try to maintain a comfortable environment so you can speak as much French as possible! I will be starting teacher's college in September 2021 for French immersion so you can ensure that I will do my very best to help your child succeed as a future educator! With COVID, all of my lessons are now 100% remote using Zoom or Skype. It is still very effective for teaching. Check my most recent reviews! Dec 2020: "Caroline has been tutoring our 6th grade (special needs) son in French and Math for several months and has impressed us from the start. Caroline was able to transition seamlessly from in-person tutoring into online learning and still be effective. Caroline is very insightful into our child’s needs. By way of example, before we started, Caroline performed a skills assessment that perfectly captured our child’s abilities and needs. We found the assessment to be on par with other (very expensive) professional assessments we received from certified professionals. She is very knowledgeable about the curriculum requirements and the related subject matter. Caroline comes to sessions well prepared with worksheets and material but is flexible enough to adapt should we provide schoolwork to assist with. We have found Caroline to be patient, truly kind and an excellent communicator. Most importantly, the sessions work and we have seen vast improvement in our child’s understanding of the material.
