About Cairis

I am currently a History undergraduate at Durham University, where I am developing strong analytical, research, and writing skills. Prior to this, I achieved excellent academic results in both the IB Diploma and GCSEs - including a score of 40 points in the IB. Through these experiences I now understand the demands of rigorous courses, how to succeed in them, and how to enjoy them as much as possible.

About the lesson

My lessons are typically an hour long but I am flexible in this and happy to do as long/short as required. Previously, I have tutored family friends studying GCSE level history and also Primary School students. However, now my lessons are aimed at Primary School, GCSE, and A-Level/IB students. I always tailor my lessons to the individual needs of each student - for example, I adapt my teaching style depending on the goals and challenges of the student. So if one of my students wants to improve the flow and speed of their essay writing, I set targeted short, timed exercises to build both fluency and confidence in preparation for exam conditions. Equally, if a student needs help with subject knowledge, essay structure, or revision strategies, I will adapt my sessions to focus directly on those areas. Ultimately, I aim to help students both reach their academic targets but to enjoy studying History more and to feel more confident in their abilities!
