About the lesson

My approach to teaching varies across student to student, depending on their preferred method of learning. Some students learn better with interactive powerpoint slides, whereas others may prefer structured lessons. Initially when I tutor a student, I give them diagnostic tests to see where their strengths and weaknesses in a subject, and focus on improving their weaknesses.

About Shanthos

Hi! My name is Shanthos and I am currently a 3rd year student at the University of Toronto (Scarborough Campus). I am doing a double major program in Population Science and Psychology, and have taken a variety of Biology and Chemistry courses. Aside from school and work, I enjoy playing basketball, working out and going out with my cousins! As a past private tutor, Reading Buddy and Event Coordinator, I have great experience working with children and have developed engaging and interactive methods to teach students! As oppose to just helping the student with his/her homework, I encourage and motivate students to gain a passion for what their learning and to get a solid understanding of what they are learning. I like to create worksheets, interactive presentations and show videos to engage the student in active learning! Specific subjects that I have taught in the past are Grade 10 courses, including Math, Geography, Science, English and French. I am also comfortable with teaching Functions, Advanced Functions and Calculus. My desire to see students understand concepts that they were really struggling with and to see them do better in school, drives me to become a better tutor! As student who has completed high school and is in university, I can also help students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for success in later years of middle school, high school and post secondary education!
