We will be using the software or application format of Zoom for our classes. Zoom will let us share our desktops while being able to see each other at the same time.
We will be using a textbook (scanned version or you can buy it) to have an organized plan for our learning but we will also make good use of pop-culture such as: articles, music, and movies to help you become more interested and connected with the culture of the language that you are studying.
The first 5 or 10 minutes of each class will be dedicated to reviewing the previous lesson. Additionally, every 3 classes we will dedicate the first 15 minutes to a general review where I will ask you questions in a non-orderly manner about all the lessons that we’ve had so far. This is because I strongly believe that repetition is truly effective in remembering and becoming comfortable with using a language.
I am a graduate at the University of Toronto, major in political science, studying Lsat (entrance to law school exam). I am fluent in English and Italian - I am also academically involved in English so I can also tutor for essay writing and school subjects.
for security purposes, i'de rather not share my resume on here, however, I’ve had multiple experiences teaching with eager learners of all ages; from beginner to advanced students in English and Italian. My goal is to personalize classes so we can focus on the skills that each student needs to improve.
Elmira seems to get what learning languages are all about. She is capable of tailoring the classes to your goals. For example, for me, it was communication skills, but I was not too fond of grammar, and so she was able to make the classes about learning how to talk through fun and engaging ways. With the goals, she sets you can clearly see your progress.
I super recommend her!
I've known Elmira for a long time, and I remember I told her, she should become a teacher years ago when she was in high school.
I knew she would make a wonderful teacher cuz she always knows how to pick the words, she's so precise about the verbs, adjectives and adverbs and the exact meaning of them. some words that may seem synonyms for you she always knows the difference. I don't know how her mind works so well, but linguistics were the gift she was born with.
She's the combination of kind and disciplined, and i think it's so important that every teacher should have those qualities.
Elmira is a charismatic and exciting individual. I met her alongside my studies at the University of Toronto where I was taken away by her compassion and interest for learning. In fact, in the three years I have known her she has already picked up a new language. I would reccomend Elmira because of her brilliance and engagement with material. If you want a tutor who is excited about helping you, Elmira is the best choice!
