About Linnea
I am a student at the University of Victoria studying Math and Linguistics. I graduated from French Immersion in Vancouver, and spent my grade 11 year living abroad in France where I went to school. I learned French fluently, and even passed and excelled in the national French exams (le baccalauréat de français). I continue to use French in my personal and professional life in a variety of jobs and to communicate with the people I met during my year in France. Outside of school, I love to do embroidery and go hiking. Growing up in BC, I was always right by the mountains and grew up going on backcountry hiking trips. From the Cascades to the Alps, mountains are my favourite landscapes.

Many people look for a native speaker when in search of second language tutoring, but native is not always better. As a second language speaker myself, I am familiar with the process of learning French as a second language and the things that English speakers may have trouble with in a way a Francophone might not.
Additionally, as a linguistics student, I am well versed in the structures of languages, having a deep understanding of the way in which French and English grammar work, and different ways of explaining tricky grammatical concepts. For those wanting to work on their pronunciation, I am well versed in the International Phonetic Alphabet, and can help students understandFrench phonetics and phonology to a deep level.
