About Lars
My teaching approach centers on transforming technique into storytelling. I guide students to go beyond the notes and create vivid musical pictures that speak to the heart. Through phrasing techniques, dramatic bow strokes, and tonal variation, I help them shape each phrase with purpose and feeling. We explore how a subtle shift in bow speed or vibrato can create tension, release, or a sense of wonder. I encourage students to imagine each piece as a scene filled with color, movement, and emotion. Whether it's the whisper of a delicate melody or the roar of a passionate climax, every moment matters. Together, we learn how to sculpt sound into something alive. Tone color becomes the brush, and dynamics the light and shadow. I support students in crafting performances that resonate with their own voice and vision, no matter their musical background. Even in the early stages, I nurture a sense of dramatic intention and emotional contouring. My goal is for students to feel empowered, expressive, and connected to the music they play. Through this journey, they become not just violinists, but storytellers with strings.

I am a dedicated violin tutor with 10 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education in Strings – Violin. My passion lies in teaching students not just as soloists but as collaborative musicians. I specialize in group instruction, focusing on ensemble classes, orchestral sectionals, and chamber music coaching. Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with youth orchestras and school ensembles, helping young musicians grow in both skill and confidence. I emphasize the importance of listening truly hearing others in the ensemble to blend, balance, and communicate musically. My teaching nurtures group dynamics, encouraging students to support one another and play as a unified team. Tuning within an ensemble is a key skill I train, guiding students to develop both technical precision and a keen musical ear. I also help young players step into leadership roles, especially as concertmasters, preparing them to lead with confidence and sensitivity. My approach is structured yet flexible, tailored to the unique needs of each group. I believe in building a strong foundation in ensemble etiquette, rehearsal discipline, and musical expression. Whether in a chamber group or a full orchestra, students leave my sessions more aware, expressive, and connected. I find great joy in seeing them grow together, not just as players, but as musicians.
