About Jaival

Hi! I'm an Engineering Science student at the University of Toronto, specializing in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I'm passionate about mathematics, physics, and helping students develop the confidence to tackle challenging academic material.

My Academic Background: I study Engineering Science at the University of Toronto, widely recognized as one of Canada's most academically rigorous engineering programs. The curriculum emphasizes advanced mathematics, physics, and engineering fundamentals, giving me a strong technical foundation and experience solving complex problems.

I am also a former International Baccalaureate (IB) student, so I understand firsthand the demands of rigorous high-school curricula, exam preparation, and the transition to university-level studies.

My Professional Experience: Alongside my studies, I am completing an Electrical Engineering internship at MDA Space, where I contribute to radiation analysis and FPGA-related electronics development for space systems.

My work involves applying engineering principles to aerospace applications associated with programs such as Canadarm3 and the Lunar Gateway, giving me practical experience connecting theoretical concepts to real-world engineering challenges.

Why I Tutor: Having navigated both the IB curriculum and the demanding Engineering Science program, I understand how overwhelming mathematics and physics can sometimes feel.

I've learned that success in these subjects isn't simply about memorizing formulas. It's about developing intuition, understanding fundamental principles, and learning how to approach unfamiliar problems logically.

I want to share that perspective with students, helping them build stronger academic foundations while making challenging concepts more approachable.

Whether you're preparing for an IB or AP examination, tackling Grade 11–12 mathematics and physics, or navigating your first years of university, my goal is to provide a supportive learning environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving at your own pace.

My approach to tutoring is simple: I want students to understand why something works, not just memorize formulas or steps.

As a University of Toronto Engineering Science student (top engineering program in Canada), enrolled in one of Canada's most academically rigorous engineering programs, and a former International Baccalaureate (IB) student, I understand the challenges of demanding academic coursework.

I am currently completing an Electrical Engineering internship at MDA Space, where I contribute to radiation analysis and FPGA-based electronics development for advanced aerospace systems, including work associated with the Lunar Gateway and Canadarm3 programs. Through this experience, I apply mathematics, physics, and engineering principles to real-world challenges in space exploration.

My Teaching Approach: I tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs, learning pace, and academic goals.

A typical session includes:

- Concept Review: Breaking down challenging topics into clear, understandable explanations.
- Guided Problem-Solving: Working through questions step by step and explaining the reasoning behind each solution.
- Independent Practice: Helping students build confidence by solving problems on their own.
- Exam Preparation: Reviewing challenging questions, identifying weak areas, and developing effective test-taking strategies.

Who I Teach: I offer online tutoring in mathematics and physics for:

- Ontario Grades 11–12: Advanced Functions, Calculus & Vectors, and Physics.
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Mathematics and Physics at SL and HL levels.
- Advanced Placement (AP): AP Calculus AB/BC and AP Physics.
- University Years 1–2: Calculus, Linear Algebra, Introductory Physics, and related mathematics courses.

My Goal: I want students to leave each session with more than just completed homework. My goal is to help them develop a deeper understanding of the material, improve their academic performance, and build the confidence to tackle challenging problems independently.
