About Jianshan
Hey! I’m Jianshan, an incoming Computer Engineering student at UPenn on a full tuition scholarship, a first-gen student, and a current web developer intern at a startup.
Honestly? If you looked at my middle school or early high school math grades, you probably wouldn’t have guessed I'd end up here.
I know exactly what it feels like to sit in a math class, look at a blackboard full of variables, and feel like your brain is short-circuiting. It’s isolating, frustrating, and exhausting—especially when you have big dreams of majoring in STEM, securing a spot at a selective magnet high school, or getting into a Top 20 university.
I didn't get to where I am by being a flawless math prodigy from day one. I got here because I figured out how to stop panic-memorizing formulas and actually start understanding how the logic works. Once that click happens, math stops being a villain and turns into a tool you can use to build literally anything.
As a first-gen student who had to navigate the high-stakes world of competitive admissions and technical engineering tracks from scratch, I don’t just want to help you pass your next quiz. I’m here to be the mentor I wish I had when I was struggling.
