About Ivy
I earned a Bachelor of Music in Classical Violin Performance and have spent the last 10 years helping students strengthen technique, build confidence, and enjoy music more fully. My passion for violin began through years of study, ensemble performance, and solo experiences that showed me the instrument’s expressive possibilities. Teaching became a meaningful path because I enjoy helping others discover their own musical strengths. Supporting students through challenges and achievements continues to inspire me. Every learner brings a unique perspective to music.
My teaching philosophy is based on patience, encouragement, and individualized instruction. I believe every student deserves lessons that reflect their goals, learning style, and personal interests. Technical skills are always connected to musical understanding so that learning feels purposeful and engaging. Students receive constructive feedback and practical strategies that support steady improvement. This creates a positive environment where progress feels achievable.
Outside teaching, I enjoy chamber music, studying violin repertoire, and exploring different approaches to music education. These interests help me bring fresh ideas into lessons and keep learning enjoyable. Watching students regain confidence and achieve meaningful goals is deeply rewarding. I strive to create lessons that are supportive, motivating, and effective. My goal is to help learners build a lifelong connection with music.

My violin lessons are designed to help students progress with confidence while developing a deeper connection to music. I focus on building strong fundamentals through bow control, posture improvement, intonation accuracy, tone production, rhythm awareness, and expressive phrasing. Every lesson is structured to create steady progress without unnecessary pressure. Students learn how technical skills contribute directly to musical expression, making practice more meaningful and enjoyable. This balanced approach helps learners build both ability and confidence over time.
Many of my students return to violin after a long break or periods of uncertainty. For these learners, I provide patient guidance through open-string exercises, slow scale meditation, tone rebuilding activities, confidence restoration strategies, and performance readiness practice. Students who struggle with nervousness or self-doubt receive supportive coaching that helps them move forward at a comfortable pace. Lessons are adapted to individual needs while maintaining clear and achievable goals. This creates an encouraging environment where growth feels natural and rewarding.
My goal is to help students rediscover enjoyment in playing while developing reliable technical skills. As confidence grows, learners become more willing to explore new repertoire and challenge themselves creatively. Lessons encourage patience, consistency, and self-belief. Every achievement contributes to stronger musicianship and personal growth. I want students to feel proud of every step they take on their violin journey.
