About Joanna
I am a violin tutor with 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Orchestral Studies. I have guided over 250 students from young beginners to advanced performers. My teaching covers bowing technique, vibrato, intonation, phrasing, tone development, and musical expression. I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity examinations and offer orchestral preparation for school and community ensembles. My approach is warm, structured, and always adapted to each student's individual pace and goals. Let me help you develop a strong violin technique and a genuine lasting love of music.

My violin lessons are carefully planned to develop technique, musicality, and performance confidence simultaneously throughout every session. Every session starts with posture review and a comprehensive warm-up of scales and bowing exercises. Bow technique receives strong early emphasis as it most directly impacts tone quality and expression. Intonation develops through systematic scale work, careful listening, and tuning technology. Exam students follow required syllabi with regular mock assessments and detailed feedback on all components. Advanced students work on shifting, vibrato development, double stopping, and expressive interpretative skills. Backing tracks build ensemble awareness and rhythmic musical sensitivity. For students joining orchestras I provide sight-reading coaching and ensemble skills development. Clear specific feedback is given after every performance run-through. My commitment is for every student to develop a confident technique and a genuine lasting love of the violin.
