About Sorrel

I hold a Master’s degree in Violin Performance and have 8 years of experience teaching violin to students of different ages and levels. My journey with the violin started early, and over time it grew into a strong passion for both performing and teaching. I believe that every student can learn to play beautifully with the right guidance and consistent practice. My teaching style focuses on clarity, patience, and building confidence step by step.

I adjust my teaching approach based on each student’s needs and goals. Beginners receive careful guidance to build a strong foundation, while intermediate learners are supported in refining their technique and improving expression. Advanced students work on performance skills and deeper musical understanding. I aim to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning and improving consistently.

Outside of teaching, I continue to practice regularly and explore different styles of music to improve my own skills. This helps me bring new ideas into my lessons and keep them engaging. Helping students grow in confidence and enjoy playing the violin is one of the most rewarding parts of my work as a teacher.

About the lesson

My violin lessons are designed to help students build a strong technical base while also developing a clear and expressive musical voice. I focus on posture, bow grip, bow movement, finger placement, intonation, and rhythm accuracy so that students can play with clarity and control. Lessons include scales, simple exercises, and gradually more complex pieces that help students improve step by step. I create a calm and encouraging learning space where students feel comfortable practicing and improving at their own pace without feeling rushed or pressured.

Lessons are carefully structured based on each student’s level and learning needs. Beginners start with open string practice, simple bowing techniques, and easy melodies to build coordination and confidence. Intermediate learners work on improving intonation, bow control, and expressive playing while expanding their repertoire. Advanced students focus on complex pieces, refined technique, and performance preparation. Each lesson includes guided practice, correction, and clear feedback to ensure steady improvement and strong understanding of the instrument.

The goal of my violin lessons is to help students become confident and expressive players who enjoy making music. They learn discipline, patience, and attention to detail while developing strong musical skills. Lessons are designed to balance technical learning with creativity, helping students grow steadily and feel proud of their progress over time.
