About Evelyn
"I am a passionate violin tutor with over 3 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance with a focus on contemporary repertoire. My background combines rigorous classical training with a deep love for modern musical expression. I specialize in helping students prepare for orchestral excerpts, excel in ensemble playing, and find their unique creative voice.
In our lessons, we focus heavily on physical bowing mechanics, developing a warm vibrato, and understanding artistic phrasing. We explore a wide range of musical genres, including classical masterpieces, contemporary works, and cinematic soundtracks. I also have extensive experience guiding students successfully through ABRSM and Trinity exams, as well as providing focused orchestral section coaching.
I once coached a young violinist who was terrified of their first big youth orchestra audition, helping them polish their difficult excerpt until it felt effortless. Seeing them gain that confidence and successfully join the ensemble is the most rewarding part of my work. I welcome students of all backgrounds and skill levels to my supportive studio space.

"My teaching methodology focuses on building a strong, reliable foundation for highly expressive bowing on the violin. We will work extensively on essential bowing techniques, achieving a rich and warm tone, and mastering fine dynamic control. I will guide you through various bowing strokes like détaché, spiccato, and smooth legato to bring variety to your playing.
This technical focus is perfect for people who love singing in their spare time but want to express that same musicality through an instrument. It also works wonderfully for choral singers who already understand breath control and want to translate that steady support into a smooth bow arm. I remember helping a student who struggled with a shaky, nervous bow arm finally find their stability.
By using targeted, relaxed muscle exercises, they were able to pull a clean and continuous sound across the strings in just a few weeks. We break down the complex mechanics of bow hold and arm weight into simple, easy to follow movements. Through these dedicated exercises, you will quickly learn to control your sound and produce beautiful, resonant violin notes with absolute confidence."
