About Genesis
Teaching feels natural when balanced by my 11 years of experience, especially while maintaining a chair with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. My studio in Chicago serves a wide range of students, from 4-year-old beginners to high-schoolers aiming for college auditions. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin from the University of Michigan School of Music.
Instruction focuses on core technical facility including shifting positions, double stops, and refined intonation. Students work on spiccato and staccato bowing alongside tone production and vibrato. Preparing for ABRSM or Trinity grade exams is a standard part of my pedagogical practice, which remains quite centered on classical repertoire.

Working together starts with a diagnostic assessment before setting the practice plan for the term. This structured approach informs how I utilize my Doctor of Musical Arts background during our time together.
We prioritize precise bowing mechanics and clarity in every phrase. Technical exercises occur first to establish the foundation of the session. We then move into specific repertoire pieces that require careful attention. Attention to detail defines the process.
High standards are maintained throughout. Clear musical goals provide the necessary guidance.
Correcting posture happens in real time. We build confidence through repetitive excellence. Consistent progress marks the end of our time together.
