About Laura

Online VTNE tutoring is hard to come by, but it's what I love to do! Using practice questions and study materials, we will work together to prepare you for the licensing exam. The exam has about a 70% passing rate for first-time takers, and it's far from easy. So if you are finding it difficult or impossible, don't be too down on yourself! You might just need someone to guide you through the material and to help you make sense of all that terminology! I will also provide strategies for making the best educated guesses when you just don't know the answer.

You'll find that I'm easy-going and supportive. I don't do "homework" but I give you plenty to study between sessions. I understand that in many cases my students are working, and life happens, so scheduling is pretty flexible.

About the lesson

I passed the VTNE on the first try, but I'll be the first to tell you that luck had a lot to do with it.

Unfortunately there is an enormous pool of questions, which means you might have a test with 90% things you know, or you might have a test with more like 50%. While I can't guarantee you'll pass after working with me, I'm proud of my track record, and I'm always learning and improving my methods. There is always room to grow as a tutor, and I will always be honest if I don't know something, but I enjoy doing my best to find out and share new information with you.

Effective test preparation is more than absorbing and retaining answers, it's about gaining knowledge you can draw from when an unfamiliar question comes up. My role is to help you understand concepts, make connections, remember terms, and adapt your test-taking strategy to this specific exam. I see my students as individuals and I meet them where they are at.

I want to help folks who are trying to get into this career who can't afford the absurd fees charged by the major tutoring sites. I believe my price is fair. However, I will consider rate reductions or discounted packages on a case-by-case basis.
