About Akshay
I’m an incoming Undergraduate Computer Science and Mathematics student at the University of Warwick, and I’ve always enjoyed helping others develop their understanding and confidence. At school, I helped run an Extension Maths society, and a Coding club, where I worked with younger students and enjoyed sharing my interest in these subjects. Outside of academics, I enjoy keeping active, spending time with friends and getting involved in sport. I’m approachable and enjoy building positive relationships with the people I work with, which I believe is an important part of making tutoring both effective and enjoyable.

My teaching focuses on developing a deep understanding of the subject and the ability to apply that knowledge to challenging problems. In Maths and Further Maths, I focus on understanding the underlying concepts before progressing to increasingly difficult and unfamiliar questions. I balance targeted questions with effective use of past papers, helping students develop both problem-solving ability and exam technique.
In Computer Science, I place a strong emphasis on genuinely understanding the theory and the content required by the A-Level specification, rather than relying on memorisation. This includes working through algorithms, data structures and other concepts to understand how and why they work, while ensuring students know exactly what they need to be able to explain in an exam.
Lessons are typically one hour and tailored to each student’s needs, whether that is learning content, consolidating knowledge, tackling difficult questions or preparing for exams. I achieved 4 A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Physics and will be studying Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Warwick. I primarily teach A-Level students (16–18) aiming for an A or A*.
