About Sophia

I graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from California State University Long Beach and majored in International Studies and Journalism. My major brought me over to Europe to study abroad in Madrid, Spain. I knew that I wanted to teach overseas and that is why I picked my major.

While I was studying abroad, I started teaching! It was such a blessing because I love working with children. I began my teaching career teaching English to kids from the ages of 6-to 15 in camps and then at a school in Madrid, Spain. I love using art, dance, singing, and crafts to engage and teach children.

I have also taught online for the past three years to Chinese children from the ages of 4-to 13 through interactive classes. Teaching for Magic Ears has allowed me to gain experience teaching online to four students at a time.

My goal is to help students become proficient in the English language by teaching literacy, grammar, reading comprehension and to help them acquire a positive outlook on life. I plan on creating a unique range of classes that include a blend of my passions in ESL.

About the lesson

Hello, my name is Sophia!

I've spent the last five years teaching English abroad in Madrid, Spain. While living in Spain, I fell in love with the culture, food, landscapes, history, and football aka soccer.

In my classes, you can expect to learn about travel, geography, culture, and languages.

I believe that teaching should be informative, fun, and inspiring. My mission is to influence students to become lifetime learners by making learning engaging, lively, and positive!

My goal is to help students become curious about the world around them and learn from someone who has traveled and lived in other countries. I believe that travel is your best teacher and if you can learn from someone who has done it, then you are in luck because I will share my experiences and knowledge with you. I will use videos, crafts, activities, and presentations in the classroom.

I would love to create a positive class experience and have each learner walk away feeling confident and happy. I can’t wait to see you in my classroom!
