About Sydney

I have tutored other students for the past 8 years through a tutoring program during high school and continued in a community service tutoring program in college. I have assisted my young cousin in learning and mastering many of his school subjects.

I graduated a competitive high school with honors and graduated Cum Laude with a finance degree from Lehigh University. Throughout high school and college, I loved sharing knowledge and working with others to help them learn and have an impact. I participated in multiple tutoring programs that assisted elementary and middle school children in their struggle areas. I focused mainly on helping these students learn to read and write, develop arithmetic skills and challenged them with more difficult material as they mastered each lesson. These students achieved high grades by the end of the semester. I also have experience working at a children's science museum and collaborating with various children, students, and personalities. I believe I am confident in connecting with many individuals and influencing them to learn and succeed.

About the lesson

I would first get to know them through an intro session and identify their interests and personalities first. Then I would ask questions to learn about their learning style, strengths, weaknesses, and favorite subjects. Based on this, I would develop a relationship to connect best with the student and tailor a method of teaching that would work best for them, using positive feedback and constructive criticism to achieve success and confidence in their abilities.

K-8th grade students. Some were more outgoing, some were more quiet. Some children had smaller attention spans while others hold focus. Based on each student, I tailor my tutoring strategies towards their needs, personalities, and age to connect and make an impact.

Keep an open mind. Each teacher may have a different strategy and methods of teaching. Lessons may be difficult at times, but don't give up and always ask questions if you don't understand. A good teacher would be more than willing to explain a subject in multiple ways until it reaches the student.

I recently graduated Lehigh University Cum Laude and started a job in finance in August. This took stamina, determination, hard work, and passion to balance academics with extracurriculars and social life. My job so far has been very rewarding and I have caught up quickly with the rest of my team. I am a useful and reliable member of my team in 3 short months and am excited to achieve more, using my skill sets during my time in university. I want to give back and help other students achieve similar success through smaller but integral stepping stones during their younger school years.
