About Xandrija
I am Classically trained and have performed around the world with various ensembles (google me)! I have been teaching music for almost two decades. I have worked for three local authorities, Bromley, Lewisham and Camden and I have also worked for various academies. I took the CELTA two years ago and have been teaching English since then privately and also at BELS academy in Malta. As a performer, I have freelanced for many years, I have played regularly with orchestras such as the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, L'orchestre du Centre Philharmonique and St. Paul's Sinfonia. I have played with Joseph Calleja and for Angelina Jolie. For more information, please see my website (concealed information)
On the piano, I regularly accompany my students for exams and concerts and play the organ for church services.
I have completed teacher training courses for Trinity & Guildhall and regularly attend Teacher Conferences in order to keep up to date with pedagogy. I am also working on the Music Commission which aims to unite music organisations to help improve music education in the UK.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
After University, I had tuition with Ofer Faulk (Leader of the Allegri Quartet), Dona Lee Croft (Soloist and Professor at The Royal College of Music) and Cynthia Fleming (Leader of the BBC Concert Orchestra. I have also attended teacher conferences (ABRSM) as part of my Continued Professional Development training and I have also completed the Trinity & Guildhall KS2 Music Teaching course.
I have also completed the CELTA training and taught in English schools in Malta and Spain.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
The Musician's Union
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I am very proud of my students, some of whom have been coming to me for a number of years. Sadly I will miss some of them soon as they will be going to University but it has been wonderful to see them progress from wide-eyed beginners to the mature students they are today. Equally I have some adults, who challenge me (and I challenge them)! in different ways, we have great conversations and great laughs and I really enjoy widening their knowledge of music - music is for everyone. I also have one student who was on the verge of giving up when she came to me, her dad was amazed that she has started to practice again of her own volition. Everyone has different goals, I want to know what YOU are aiming for.

Details
Hi there - I'm so sorry but as the site I originally signed up to - The Tutor Pages has now been taken over by Super Prof, it appears they are having 'teething problems' - Please bear with me whilst they update their site! Google me to contact me for free. According to the Musician's Union, the going rate for lessons is £38/hour which is why I charge that. I do not offer lessons for free, as it is my time, experience and I also have a busy schedule.
