About Catherine
I am a current English and Theater Studies major at Yale who received an A* at English Literature and Language GCSEs, a D1 at English Pre-U (a grade higher than an A*), and wrote successful US university applications to eight prestigious US universities, including three Ivy League schools and Stanford. I also received perfect scores of 36 on the English and Reading sections of the ACT, and a 770 on the Literature SAT subject test. I can teach English at a primary or secondary school level to students in the U.K. or help with applications to the US university system, particularly college essays.

My teaching method is to make sure that the student and I have clarified by email before the session what specifically they want to work on (eg a particular concept in a text they need help with, or an essay question they’re struggling to make a start on) and then I’ll work to make a lesson structure that breaks down the concept in a way that is both approachable and thorough for the student. I’ll make sure to include plenty of moments where I check in with the student to make sure they feel comfortable with everyone we’ve gone over, and see if they have any questions.
