About Carmen

I understand that starting a new instrument can be both exciting and intimidating. That is why my approach is rooted in patience, clarity, and professional encouragement. I specialize in helping students master the 'essential fundamentals'—such as proper embouchure development and breath support—while maintaining a positive environment where every mistake is treated as a valuable learning opportunity. Beyond the classroom, I am a regular performer with Mountain Ridge High School Symphonic band, ensuring that my technical advice is always grounded in current, real-world performance standards. About the lesson

The Three Ts: My curriculum is built around Tone (sound), Technique (hand position and strategy), and Tongue (clean articulation). Lessons will consist of warm-up, technique, skill application, sight reading, and fun games and challenges! I provide hands-on application and lessons to help with the struggle. For elementary and middle schoolers trying to improve, or hobbyists who want to learn something new!
