About Matthew
My name is Matthew and I am from Leeds studying in Manchester. I have always had a passion for words and literacy, and I am particularly interested in anything considered ‘creative’. In my spare time I enjoy exercising this through writing and making music (I am a self taught musician). Despite my passion for creating, I am versatile in my ability to also critique a work and formulate analyses of a wide range of media (as well as books I study film). Outside of this I am also a very sociable person and I enjoy getting out with friends and meeting new people, so I believe I can get along with my students very well

In regards to teaching, I believe an easy going approach to be most fitted, especially for such a creative subject as English, where the student must be allowed express their own ideas with confidence and esteem. English is a subject that is to be explored with an open mind and genuine intrigue, and as a teacher I strongly acknowledge the value in fostering an actual interest and passion for the subject - I want to get along with the student and discuss ideas and explore the subject in a relaxed domain. For these reasons, you can expect our lessons to be fun and laid back but also educational and (hopefully) transformative.
