About Abhinav

I've always believed that music isn't just something you learn — it's something you feel. My journey with the drums began with a deep love for rock and melodic music, and that same passion is what I bring into every class I teach.

I specialize in guiding complete beginners through their first steps on the drums — from holding their sticks right to playing their first rock beat, building rhythm and timing, and eventually understanding why certain music makes you want to close your eyes and just get lost in it (or headbang!). That last part matters to me.

I emphasize on creating a warm, patient, and encouraging environment where there is no such thing as a "silly question". I encourage you to ask away anything and everything that pops up in that beautiful creative mind of yours!
We will learn the drums through real songs and have some fun grooving to some awesome tunes!

My classes are open to all ages — whether you're a school student picking up your sticks for the first time, a working adult finally pursuing a lifelong dream, or anyone in between. All I need from you is curiosity and enthusiasm, and if you're reading my ad here, that's already there!

I take my students' progress seriously and come to every session prepared, structured, and genuinely invested in your growth.

About the lesson

My Teaching Approach & Methods

My teaching style is rooted in making the drums feel exciting from day one. The kind of creativity and control one feels when playing behind a drum kit is unparalleled. I blend this with just enough music theory to connect the dots and make things click.

Teaching Techniques:
Learning rudiments, the foundation of any drumming journey, and connecting exercise patterns to their actual implementation in songs
Teaching basic beats in a musical context to show how they connect to the songs students already love
Introducing music theory gradually, explaining why certain hits and fills create emotion
Using rock and melodic songs as the primary learning material, keeping energy and passion alive throughout

Typical Class Structure:
Warm-up (5 minutes): Some fun exercises while we go over what we learned in the previous lesson
Introducing a new concept for the day (10-15 minutes)
Applying the new concept to a real song and talking about how it is used (10 - 15 minutes)
Summing up the Theory (Relating theory to implementation, which is often the "AHA" moment for the student)
A small homework assignment that the student can work on until the next class

What Makes Me Different:
I know what it is like to pick up an instrument for the first time; it can be overwhelming, and there will be days when you feel you may not be cut out for it. I can help you get through the initial rough patches and keep your motivation and love for music high.
Rather than just playing through exercises, I help students understand why music moves people, which builds a deeper, lasting connection to the instrument.
I am very patient and encouraging, and I love watching beginners improve in their craft and finally achieve what they're working towards!

Who My Classes Are For: Primarily beginners of all ages: children, teenagers, college students, and adults who've always wanted to be the backbone of any band! No prior experience needed! If you can hold some drumsticks, we can make music together, haha!
